GARS–NEPAL.TEBIT Earthquake Emergency: calling on architects all around the world for reconstruction designing projects. Collecting architects on a global scale, offering a platform for architects with professional competence who have a desire to devote a loving heart for people in the disaster-hit areas to participate actively in the post-disaster reconstruction of Nepal(China Tibet included) to put the architects’ social ideal into practice.
Accumulating experience for post-disaster architectural designs and construction, setting up an open platform which contains various solutions for responding to the natural disasters like earthquake.
Providing a professional communicating platforms for global post-disaster construction, promoting the cultivation of the talent and enlarging the talent pool for reconstruction.

Prizes
Total bonus:100,000 USD.
Two first-prize(one for each type) , 20,000 USD for each bonus with the certificate and medal.
Four second-prize(two for each type),10,000 USD for each bonus with the certificate and medal.
Ten third-prize(five for each type),2,000 USD for each bonus with the certificate and medal.
Twenty-four finalists(twelve for each type) with certificates and prizes.
1. Designing contents
Two types are included: emergency buildings while-in disaster and reconstruction after-disaster.
A. emergency buildings while-in-disaster
GARSA1. Emergency shelters;
GARSAA2. Temporary housing;
GARSAA3. Temporary classrooms (primary schools and middle schools);
GARSAA4. Temporary kindergartens;
GARSAA5. Temporary hospitals. (Choose one or more).
Design requirements
Construction base: not restricted to specific bases,and the construction should be strongly adaptable to the base.
Regional characteristics: Fully consider the regional characteristics of architecture.
Materials，transportation and construction:
Flexibility, modular housing units，suitable for reserve and transportation and is supposed to fit at least one piece of the following requirements:
Easy to obtain local materials within 48 hours.
Suitable for international air aid by small cargo planes in batch.
Proper for emergency airdrop aid by domestic helicopters.
Can be rapidly built and massively reproduced,can be constructed with light machine and small tools by local residents or volunteers.
Make full use of ecological means such as environment-friendly,energy sufficient and new types of materials and renewable resources.
Safety and comfort:
Meet the structure security requirements.
Consider using fireproof materials as much as possible.
Have favorable architectural physics performance including sunlight conditions ，ventilation system , insulation and cooling system.
Possess simple lighting，air fans and temporary power generation.
Guard against insects or snakes.
Collect and recycle rainwater.
Psychological aid and humanistic concern：
Take Psychological counseling and comforting into consideration. Reflect humanitarianism concern.
You may use additional elements like pictures&articles; and music with the themes such as Global Citizen and Boundless Love.
Building height:No more than two storeys (two storeys included)

Provide cost estimation as clear as possible, consider comprehensive cost and the factual effect of disaster relief.
B. Reconstruction after-disaster(GARSB):

Design specification(design concept，construction directions, technical and economic indicators and construction estimation tables are included)

All texts are in Chinese or English.The organizer encourages all forms of representation which helps the better explaining of proposals. even videos can be include.
If you submit a video,Please submit a 1 minute (maximun) video. Please use subtitles even if you are speaking English or Chinese. (It is not mandatory to speak in the video, you may also use text, images, animation etc).
To submit the video: First upload the video to YouTube(English) or YouKu(Chinese), then login in to your ikuku.cn ucenter->my compettion page, click on “update” of any proposal, it will jump to the propsal editting page. In this page you can paste the YouTube or YouKu link to the “extr.links” section.

Eligibility
The competition is opened to architects,students，
individuals and groups who are dedicated to architectural design of reconstruction after-disaster and full of sense of social responsibility.
Professional architects, architecture teachers and enrolled students （undergraduates, postgraduates and Ph.D students）share equal qualifications in this competition.
How to register
Login to ikuku user center(if you are not an ikuku user you need register first).
After clicking the’apply now’ or ‘apply more’ button in ‘user center->my competition’, you will get a registration number of qualification for competition.
Participants need to fill in personal profile in ikuku user center.
4. Submission
Electronic documentaries are required(in duplicate).

In “user center -> My competition”, the user can click on “update”to submit or update each proposal. If you are in a team you need to click on “participants” or “team”to fill in the related information.

300dpi, The results typesetting in no more than five A3 horizontal composition of drawings, and on the top right corner of every drawing, the registration number is supposed to be clearly indicated in 40×10mm.

5. selection rules
All will be completed online.
The selection rules：
Online ranking: Based on the popularity which is related to the number of clicks, shares, favorites and comments, 20 projects from each type will come into the finalists, and the ranking comes out at the same time.
Experts selection：All experts will vote on the finalists online to select one first-prize,two second-prize,five third -prize from type A and type B respectively.
6. Awards Ceremony
We will invite world-famous post-disaster reconstruction experts to present the awards at the live webcast ceremony, and winners deliver their acceptance speech by video.
Other consultants’ fee,awards and certificates will be provided by the organizers and sponsors.
Designers of the finalists will all get awards and certificates
All the authors can get a medal of “GCRS Hope Design”.
Organizers will select the “National Award” and “Institution Award” who are supportive to our activity.
(The time of ceremony is to be determined).
7. Intellectual property rights
Intellectual property rights belong to the author of the works.
Authors authorize the organizers and sponsors to use the rights of promoting ，remaking ,modifying, publishing, exhibition free of charge by using images and texts of the works and to use other related rights publicly without any other payment or premium.
The author need to declare the contents of the related documents and materials of the registered project do not infringe the copyright of others. If there are any disputes involving copyright works in the future that makes damage to the reputation of the organizer , the author (team) will bear legal responsibility, and return the bonuses and awards.
During the process of the use of works for global public good free of charge, brief introdution of the author and the designing background need to be marked at a proper place of the building. In the process of commercialization, GERS can purchase the right to use the work of intellectual property rights, and the fees will be negotiated additionally.
8. Construction
Further adjustment and perfections will be made to the projects that come from award-winning works(both from network and expert evaluation)which are emphatically recommended by the judges ,and these projects will have the opportunity to be built in disaster-hit areas, the construction fee of which is responsible by the organizers.
9. Exhibition
The awarded projects confirmed by GCRS committee of experts will be exhibited at the exhibition mansion of cloud computing of GCRS permanently. The fee will be responsible by the organizer.
Online exhibition: permanent exhibition on www.ikuku.cn , and other online co-media will be reporting as well.
Location of offline exhibition: the exhibition mansion of cloud computing of GCRS(mansion of COFCO,NO.29, Chengnan Road,Wuxi,China).
