MOHA is announcing a call for academic projects and architectural scenarios on emergency hosting proposals for people in the Mediterranean Sea. The call is about gathering design concepts and proposals for emergency sheltering and environmental protection on shores and coastlines of the Mediterranean Sea, receiving people from countries suffering conflicts and political turmoil.

The call is open to academic projects, architectural and environmental proposals by students and/or researchers at undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate levels.

Projects should be submitted electronically by March 18, 2016 to shelteringhumanity@moha.center

The objective of this initiative is twofold. It aims at gathering a palette of diverse ideas and inventive resolving of the complicated matters in uncontrolled immigration, as well as monitoring the impact of contemporary phenomenal human flows to generation of architects that are currently been trained or been at early professional stages. It is open to all higher education institutions that are granting degrees of architecture at any level, or institutions that are conducting research on relevant eras. Young practicing professionals are also encouraged to submit their work.

MOHA looks forward to receiving projects of synthetic and cultural diversity. Therefore, a wide range of elaborate scenarios will be welcomed, from individual and flexible structures to greater proposals for interventions, able to adjust on Mediterranean shores.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

a. Two A2 panels (42.0 x 59.4 cm), landscape oriented, jpeg or pdf format, with properly arranged visual documentation of the project (drawings, illustrations, diagrams, sketches, etc.)

b. Text description of the project in english, 350-500 words, doc, docx or txt format, with project details, main aims and characteristics, key features and academic credits

c. Short biographical note of design team members in english, 100-150 words, doc, docx or txt format, with contact details (names, emails, websites, affiliations, etc)

Submitted projects will be reviewed by the scientific committee. Four submissions will be awarded and selected submissions will be exhibited in special event at MOHA premises. Awarded and selected submissions will be published in collective volume and they will be featured on archstudies.gr as well as on other specialized e-journals and websites.
