In partnership with China Fortune Properties, a state-owned commercial property developer based in Shanghai, we are now launching the YoungBird “Halo” Smart Signage Design Competition 2017 and calling for entries from design firms and institutes of higher education the world over. Contestants are required to conceive an innovative, smart signage design scheme for a select array of outdoor spaces inside the Shanghai Caohejing Hi-Tech Park developed by China Fortune Properties. This open international competition is to take place among three groups who have been solicited to draw up refurbishment plans of 12 courtyards. Finalists whose plans comply with the design guidelines and have construction feasibility will be authorized by the organizers to implement the project, and the plans will be made available for reference in the Baitasi district, the broader old-town districts of Beijing, and in old towns throughout China that need to be revitalized.

A “Pavilion” is also a prototype of tech-crafted tradition and represents a geo-cultural transformation throughout all cultures. NAPAVILION challenges this typical ideal of a Pavilion by providing specificity in use and non-specificity or adaptability in site. NAPAVILION is a Pavilion for a nap in any location you choose. Q City Plan International Design Competition
Activating the City with a Qpuncture!

Opposite to the conventional concept and operation mode of urban planning, which is from macro to micro and from top to bottom, Q (the initial of pinyin “qu”, simplified Chinese: 趣, n. fun; adj. interesting) City Plan operates with a human-oriented spirit. The plan approaches the large-scale city by rediscovering its nooks and crannies, amending the sweeping generalizations and supplementing the grand narrative of traditional urban planning.
