Located on the east coast of Lake Mývatn in Northern Iceland, the Vogafjós Farm Resort is a family-owned guest house surrounded by breathtaking Icelandic landscape. The farm has been owned and operated by the same family for nearly 120 years and operates as a mixed-stock farm of nearly 120 sheep and about 40 cows and cattle.

After a successful completion of our first challenge SkyCity again, is pleased to invite architects, designers, artists, engineers to take part in the SkyCity Challenge 19, THE FUTURE OF HOUSING.  The current ways of building are affecting the environment we are living in, they are limited and outdated. We believe with the modern technology available, we are able to create far more sophisticated homes that could revolutionize the future of housing.

Welcome to the eighth edition of this international competition organized by OPENGAP, inviting participants to explore the boundaries and paradigms of house designing, inciting them to work in innovative and visionary proposals which can both, think in a basic housing program and in the relation of  identity between the customer and  the project. Iceland’s volcanic landscapes are captivating and enchanting, with many filled with mythological stories, and the black lava fields in the north of the country are no exception. The Dimmuborgir site near Mývatn Lake takes its name from the Icelandic word for Dark Castles or Dark Cities, and was formed some 2,300 years ago by a massive eruption that created the unique features and bleak landscape. In an era of globalization where the technological revolution dominated communication, there is the need to rethink the cities and how Man can relate in a global World as well as rethink the economic, social and cultural patterns of contemporary societies. The young creatives and thinkers are a precious commodity that we value a lot. We want to give them a voice.

​CODE – COmpetititons for DEsigners – launches “Italian Tradition Market”, a competition of ideas aiming to design the first market of handcrafted Italian excellences of Art, Craftsmanship, Food and Wine production and Areas on the remains of  a 88 B.C. Roman Theater. A cash prize of € 10,000 will be awarded to winners selected by a well-renowned jury made of, among the others,​ Enzo Eusebi, Alfredo Häberli, Andrea Marcante (Marcante Testa), Benedetta Tagliabue (Miralles Tagliabue), Dong Gong (Vector Architects).

​YAC – Young Architects Competitions launches “Plastic Monument”, a competition of ideas aiming to create an itinerant architectural installation. It will travel all around the world to raise awareness about the impact of plastic waste on our planet.
