The challenges of the past few years have demonstrated the need for places for individuals in communities gather. The goal of this competition is to create a functional space within a community for gathering, play and shelter. A multi-functional building that can be used in a variety of ways is the overall goal. Think about how communities will gather in the future and design a building to meet these needs. Concrete masonry is an ideal choice for this type of building. It is durable and long-lasting, providing a pleasing aesthetic, and can be used for security and safety. Designs should identify multiple ways to take advantage of concrete masonry’s benefits to meet the needs of this new community center. (more…)

Sea Design Contest 2023 is the first international design competition entirely dedicated to the nautical sector and open to students and recent graduates from all over the world. Young designers are invited to submit new or existing concepts in keeping with three broad categories: nautical design, industrial design, and “design for all”, the latter having a focus on making sea and aquatic lifestyle more accessible to people with disability. Winners will be invited as guests of honour at the 2023 and 2024 editions of the Tigullio Design District festival where they’ll have the opportunity to showcase their work in front of a large network of companies and professionals of the nautic sector. Reuse of the Bramante’s Nymphaeum in Genazzano

In the countryside of Rome, hidden in a forest outside a small village, there is a forgotten renaissance pavilion. It’s the Bramante’s Nymphaeum, designed by the famous Italian architect Donato Bramante, built at the beginning of the fifteenth century by the Colonna family in Genazzano. It was the main element of a huge garden, with some lakes and a small river, located on the hillside next to the main door of the town. It was abandoned right after its completion.

Zambia has been generous host to refugees since 1966 when the Angolan revolution against the Portuguese spread to the east of the country forcing people to flee for safety in neighboring Zambia.
Almost 60 years later, Zambia is still receiving refugees from a long list of countries, with a predominance of Congolese, Burundians and Somalis. There are a total of about 105,000 refugees in camps and settlements in Zambia of which 65,000 are Congolese and 20,000 are Angolan.
