About Competition
Ideas Competition for the conceptualization of a modular, emergent housing model for the people displaced by disasters. The model must be adaptable to diverse contexts (urban/rural, warm/cold), low-cost, rapid implementation, and scalable. EMERGENT HOUSING will be conceptualized as a modular, sustainable housing prototype that can be rapidly implemented and adapted to different geographic and cultural contexts.
Requirements / Eligibility
The contest is aimed at all qualified architects and architecture students of theworld, as long as Spanish is maintained as the official language
Submission / Key Dates
This proposal must prioritize local and recyclable materials, safety, and privacy, integrating aesthetic, modular architecture and construction economy, in order to offer an immediate solution that can evolve into a long-term habitable home.
This prototype is designed to be adaptable to other crisis contexts such as Tacloban (Philippines), Gorkha (Nepal), Beira (Mozambique), Lahaina (Hawaii), among others. Its modular and low-cost approach allows for scalability for international use in areas affected by earthquakes, hurricanes, or conflicts.
