ArchiFrame has launched a global architectural contest aimed at finding innovative prefab ideas. ArchiFrame is looking for a residential building that will serve as the basis for a new kind of prefabricated community, eschewing common issues endemic to prefabricated buildings (lack of creativity, monotonous designs).

“We want to help the global building industry embrace creative and livable prefabricated homes over the next decade. We want to support sustainable and flexible ways of building residential communities” explains Petteri Heiskari, ArchiFrame CEO.

The goal is to create a livable and innovative house design that makes the most of available building materials, embracing their creative and sustainable potential.

ArchiFrame’s international competition gives participants a free hand to shape their dream prefabricated home using BIM software. The competition encourages participants to come up with creative plans for prefabricated houses that interest both builders and future homeowners.

Entries will be considered by a global panel of six judges; judging criteria includes the inventiveness of the prefabricated design, sustainability, and the understanding of building materials and process.

Prizes and Eligibility

The main prize is a combined ArchiFrame & Archicad license for 1 year (worth over $ 8, 000). ArchiFrame challenges architects, students, and engineers to innovate and rethink how to build a prefab home that will be creative, liveable, and efficient to build. The contest is open to anyone.

The contest registration period runs until January 12, 2022 and the winners will be announced in February 2022. There are no registration or entrance fees.
