We want to work with you to explore and think about shifting your current lifestyles and ways of thinking toward a future in which humans are a part, a giving not distracting part, of nature. We would like to find better ideas and mechanisms to take sustainable living steps further through designing ultra-small living spaces, minimalist lifestyle, self sustained off grid communities. These communities are to be seeds injected into our urban design for a better future. We sincerely look forward to your participation in this mind-set changing design, so we can pass on with you a better city to future generations.

This tiny home community village lies on the periphery of the beautiful hilly town of Squamish, BC, Canada. The area is full of forests with lots of rain. The town has a moderate coastal climate with average summer highs of 24C and winter lows of 3C. The town is relatively new with an active lifestyle and fashionable neighborhoods.

General Information

This tiny home community foster a sustainable lifestyle with a park that includes a tiny house village, sustainable- farming with a farm on the side, art making studio and a gathering space in the middle. The community is to consist of 40 tiny single-family homes in four clusters sit on 30 acres of untouched land.

The tiny house village is only available for three years stays, but it includes a variety of different models that emphasize sustainability  and natural living equally. These tiny homes are to be prefab with smart, sustainable, and off grid solutions.

House Design Requirements

This project is a global village that has more than one size of homes to accommodate  young families of 2 to 4.  Participants are asked to submit designs for 3 different variations of off-grid, prefabricated homes, built around one theme/form type. 15 houses will be for couples without kids; 15 for couples with one kid; 10 for couples with 2 kids. The total area (of all floors) should not exceed 30 sqm for 2 people (couple); and 35 sqm for 3 people (couple with one kid); 40 sqm for 4 people (couples with two kids).  The couples want to feel they are part of the forest. Your designed tiny house must be no more than 1.5 floors (only first floor or first floor with half upper floor) features four basic components: living room, kitchen & dining table, 1 or 2 or 3 bed-rooms, and bathroom/bathrooms.
