JOIN THE MISSILE BASE REVITALIZATION ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION! The missile base located above the city of Bratislava on the top of Devínska Kobyla is today an unused and dilapidated memory of history. Concrete silos, bunkers and barracks built in the 1980s attract only a few contemporary witnesses, curious people and passing tourists. The buildings are in poor technical condition and, in many cases, movement in their vicinity is dangerous. In such locality which oozes history and is also surrounded by beautiful countryside, we see the potential for its improvement.

What is it about a space that makes one feel they belong? Students must be able to bring their whole selves to campus and into living and learning spaces. By employing inclusive design strategies, we can provide calming and engaging spaces to foster the community and creativity essential to the fabric of higher education. For this competition, entries should consider a space – a residence hall suite, a group of classrooms, OR a student study/social space to explore the ways diversity, inclusion, and equity can take a physical shape on campus.

However, the design of the building needs to ad here to the following criteria:
1.  Sustainable Building Design
2.  Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (flexible PPVC moulds & standardized components at different areas, such as DfMA wall components with adjustable moulds, adaptable for different height requirements).

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is pleased to announce its 10th Student Tall Building Design Competition. The goal of the competition is to shed new light on the meaning and value of tall buildings in modern society. The age of the tall building as a single iconic piece of sculpture, standing in isolation from its surroundings, is coming to an end. Designers have a responsibility to ensure that these permanent urban structures engender a future-oriented urban response to the greatest challenges of our time: unprecedented population growth; mass urbanization; climate change; environmental degradation; social, political and economic change; and the rapid advance of myriad technical innovation.
