For the Iceland Volcano Coffee Shop competition, Bee Breeders architecture competition organisers have partnered with Landeigendur Voga ehf (Landowners of Vogar farmland) as part of a series of competitions based in Iceland. For this competition, architects and architecture enthusiasts are called to submit designs for a coffee shop that would be located at the base of the Hverfjall volcano. The new coffee shop would need to include facilities for a new visitor centre and a small exhibition room that would give visitors information about the volcano’s history.

For the Caramel Shore Traveller Rooms competition, Bee Breeders architecture competition organisers are asking participants to design a prototype for a sleeping cabin to be located in the Latvian town of Skrunda on the golden-sand shores of the Venta river. The Venta river is home to the widest waterfalls in Europe, and its brightly yellow caramel color sands make it an idyllic spot for rural tourists to visit.

The Iceland Lake Myvatn Community House competition is running in partnership with Sveinn Margeirsson, mayor of Skútustaðahreppur. For this architecture competition, participants are tasked with creating a memorial in a decommissioned nuclear weapon testing site.  In response to the global silence surrounding the issue of nuclear weapons, participants in “The Last Nuclear Bomb Memorial / Edition No 2” competition must submit their designs with NO DESCRIPTION TEXT. The architecture ideas must be communicated strictly with visuals. We are asking participants to design a building or structure in which the architecture would do all the talking.
