Warsaw was born as a small fishing community to become, during the sixteenth century, the capital of Poland. The colors that characterize the city buildings gave the urban center a considerable reputation which was interrupted following the damage caused by the Second World War. The reconstruction that followed the conflict was so faithful that it gave the area UNESCO protection. The Jewish ghetto still preserves the damaged buildings to testify the period of persecutions; Wilanow palace and Lazienki park return a sense of austerity often celebrated by public concerts with which citizens retrace the noble musical tradition started here by the well-known composer Chopin. El Pantà de Sau is one of the most prominent features of its kind across the whole of Spain. The valley in which it lies was home to the small village of Sant Romà de Sau which is now submerged beneath the reservoir, apart from the Church steeple, which is still visible when the water level is low. The reservoir is one of many that provides water for Catalonia’s Capital city, Barcelona and is therefore of huge importance to the area. (more…)

We are facing a miracle, a real miracle, a unique landscape and changeable with every season.This landscape is born of two rivers, Parnaíba and Preguiças. They drag sand and sediment from the interior of the continent to the Atlantic Ocean, this sediment are deposited on the 70 kilometres of coastline. Durin dry season, above all, in the months of October and November, the north-east wind transports the sand up to 48 kilometresin land from the earth, sculpting crescent-shaped dunes that reach 39 metres height and extend as far as the eye can see. An international design competition launched today by the Pritzker Military Museum & Library located in Chicago, invites designers to submit design concepts for the new Cold War Veterans Memorial in Somers, Wisconsin. This Memorial will be a critical piece of the Pritzker Archives and Memorial Park Center (PAMPC) currently under development. Design submissions will be accepted until June 15, 2021.
