Human rights in Iraq remain fragile, as the country continues to emerge from decades of dictatorship, war and violence.

While the successive governments that have led the country since 2003 have taken measures aimed at improving the protection of their citizens, progress is still very slow due to the challenges facing the country.

The ongoing and protracted violence in Iraq continues to take a heavy toll on civilians and civilian infrastructure, subjecting them to senseless loss of life and injury. Violence also has a negative impact on economic development, and this in turn has a detrimental effect on other economic and social rights of citizens in Iraq.

Abstract forms of art have started coming up with these forms of nonobjective pieces that are an unrestricted portrayal of experiences and sometimes even elusive play of visuals and perceptions.

Abstract art started around the 19th century, a period that was characterized by the vast popularity of imitative and anecdotal representation. Movements like Romanticism, symbolism and expressionism were some of the movements that started around the same time that went against classicism and embraced the newfound freedom.

December 16 2021, Super Typhoon Rai, locally known as Typhoon Odette, made landfall in the Philippines. The storm was unexpectedly powerful, undergoing what is called “rapid intensification” the day before making landfall, which is becoming characteristic of tropical storms occurring in our warming climate. With winds of up to 195 km/h and gusts of 260 km/h, the storm was comparable to a category five hurricane when it hit.
