The aim of this competition is to design a retail store for the metaverse, where people can physically walk in and put on a headset and experience a small fraction of the metaverse. It also will be a space where they can retail products and merchandise to get the wave of metaverse started. So put on your thinking hats and get designing on what could potentially be the next best thing since sliced bread.
What is Metaverse?
In the concept of futurism, a metaverse is a potential iteration of the Internet, where users can access and interact with 3-D virtual environments, either on existing personal computers or through virtual and augmented reality headsets. On a simpler note, even applications such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom can be considered Metaverses, because they allow workers to come together and interact in a virtual environment. The company headed by Mark Zuckerberg, Meta, has been creating such an iteration for the past several years. The idea behind the metaverse is to create a virtual world where people can interact with each other to do any virtual task. In the past year, there have even been plots of land within the metaverse that have been sold to various bidders. People are planning to create online museums, game zones, meeting rooms, virtual offices etc. in these plots of land. The movie, ‘Ready Player One’ paints a relatively accurate depiction of the possibilities of this virtual world.

The site can be chosen as per the candidate’s discretion. There has to be supporting arguments proving the aptness of the function in the decided space.
The site area should range between 2500-3500 sq ft.
The spaces that need to be included in the design are as follows:
• Reception Area
• Waiting lounge
• Different display areas
• Headset Experience cubicle/space
• Billing counter
• Back office
• Storage room

Eligibility
The competition is open to everyone. Participants are eligible to register individually or in teams of maximum of 3 members. Participants are allowed to submit multiple competition entries with separate registrations for each entry.
