Architectural and Urban Planning Competition for development of concepts for pilot sites of the housing stock renovation in Moscow. On 25 th April 2017 the Architectural and Urban Planning Competition for pilot sites of housing stock renovation in Moscow was launched. The competition is held by the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of Moscow on the instructions of Mayor Sergey Sobyanin to select the best solutions for the 5 pilot sites in different districts of the capital.

SUBMISSION

The competition is open to companies, architectural and design offices of Moscow and regions of Russia, as well as foreign consortia. Foreign offices need to have Moscow partner or office in Moscow.

To enter the competition teams must provide a portfolio confirming their experience in developing urban planning documentation for sites no less than a quarter. Applications will be accepted until 24 th June 2017!

The applications shall be evaluated in accordance with the following criteria:

  • Status and position of the organization: number of employees, year of establishment, financial performance, certifications, awards and winning competitions
  • Team: experience and expertise of team members in implementation of projects with similar requirements
  • Portfolio: experience in design and development of residential quarters

JURY AND DEADLINE

The competition will have two stages. At the first stage the jury will carefully examine the submitted applications to select the best teams; at the second stage, on a fee basis, the chosen teams will develop architectural and urban planning concepts for the 5 renovation pilot sites in accordance with the technical design specifications.

Following the competition results, the development concept for each site will be chosen and become the basis for the further area planning project. The winners will be brought to further development as supervisors.

The international jury and expert group have been formed to assess the competition projects. The jury members include the heads of relevant departments, Higher School of Economics, Graduate School of Urbanism, RANEPA, Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, members of Public Chamber of Moscow, Union of architects of Russia, Union of Moscow Architects, Russian and international architects and experts. The competition will also host round tables, lectures, expert discussions on renovation of dilapidated housing and experience of the previous programs.
